Chemcial Peels generally are classified as Superficial, Medium, and Deep Peels.  Superficial Peels usually are used to improve the texture of sun-damaged skin, and even out skin tone. The recovery is generally rapid and usually involves minor flaking.  There is typically no down time and you can resume most activities right away.   Medium Peels target the epidermis and upper dermis and cause the skin to slough within a week.  Following the treatment, the skin has a red appearance along side mild swelling.  Within a day or two the skin will turn brown and then the peeling process will begin.  With Deep Peels, the most dramatic results can be achieved.  Deep Peels generally are used to treat wrinkles, scars, blemishes, and in some cases pre-cancerous lesions.  The skin following the treatment will be red and is usually accompanied by swelling.  A brown crust may form just prior to peeling.  Several layers of skin will peel over a period of 1-2 weeks.  The skin will temporarily have the color and sensation of a sunburn, which will eventually fade to your normal skin color.

Spider veins are those red, blue or purple clusters of veins that lie near the surface of the skin.  These spider veins can be caused by pregnancy, heredity, weight gain and sitting or standing for long periods of time. 

Sclerotherapy is the easiest and fastest way to get rid of spider veins.  During an office consultation, Dr Levine will explain each step and discuss individual expectations.  He will then inject the veins with a sclerosing solution, which causes the vein to collapse and disappear.  Usually you will notice most of your veins disappear during the first treatment while further improvement is typically noted for several weeks after.  It is not uncommon to require a touch up session which is usually done about six weeks later.
